Trinity United Methodist’s Candlelight Concerts
is pleased to present the Candlelight Concert debut of singer / songwriter:
Brian Ledford with Sunlight and Shadows
Admission to the concert is free (really!), with a suggested donation $15 per person. You are most welcome to attend whether you choose to donate or not. Half of the proceeds from this concert will go to Brian’s chosen charity: JCIRA, whose mission is to advocate for and educate people about the immigrant community in Jefferson County.
Brian Ledford draws from his roots and what’s close to his heart and transforms them into great songs, rich in character and storytelling. Music as much informed by The Clash as The Flatlanders. At turns as lush as Lanois, or as direct as Cash. But always with his unique thread of introspection and melody running through it.
The backstory reads like the plot from a Wallace Stegner novel (one of his literary heroes). A grandson of Oklahoma concrete finishers and Texas Oilmen is born and raised in Dallas-Fort Worth. He kicks around Texas looking for a home, trying his luck in Lubbock, Fort Worth, and Austin before pulling up stakes and making for the wet of the Pacific Northwest—like some modern-day, musical version of the great western Boomer.
Relocating to the Olympic Peninsula town of Port Townsend in 2015, this time Ledford is sticking for good. The arts rich community has deep roots in both Western and Maritime traditions and seems to be a perfect foil for his songwriting. He is currently active in multiple music projects after a 10-year hiatus following his 2011 release, “From Sunlight Into Shadow,” and 2009 debut record “Truth & Love.” There’s a new record in the works with his first Lubbock-based band The Stilettos, and new solo song releases on the way as well.
Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 609 Taylor Street, across from the Community Center, in Uptown. Attendees should plan on arriving early – doors will open at 6:30. Masks are encouraged for in-person attendees.
