is proud to present folk guitarist John Miller performing his program:
Songs from Around the Campfire.
Admission to the concert is free (really!), with a suggested donation $15 per person. You are most welcome to attend whether you choose to donate or not. Half of the proceeds from this concert will go to John’s chosen charity, Recovery Café of Jefferson County.. Recovery Café is a recovery community based on the belief that everyone deserves love and belonging and where we foster a beautiful, safe, warm, drug-and-alcohol-free space for everyone.
The performance will be streamed live at https://trinityumcpt.org/concerts where you will find a link for the Candlelight Concerts Online and ways to donate. The concert will also be simulcast on KPTZ FM 91.9 Radio Port Townsend.
John first heard the Cat Stevens album “Teaser and the Firecat” while in the seventh grade. Since then he has been hooked on acoustic guitar, and has played the instrument most of his life. Over the years John would go to concerts by America, James Taylor, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot and others, sitting as close to the stage as possible (sometimes with binoculars in hand), taking notes on exactly how the artists would play their songs.
John was taught to play harmonica at age 9 by his grandma Annie, and later discovered the joys of playing guitar and harmonica together.
John has served in the past as music director on spiritual retreats, and played in various informal settings.
John’s professional career since 1979 has been in information technology, mainly in the areas of large scale computing and microwave communications and networking. John is a licensed radio amateur and also station engineer at KPTZ 91.9 Radio Port Townsend. John is one of the producers of the monthly Candlelight Concerts.
The program tonight “Songs from Around the Camp Fire” hearkens back to times past sitting around a camp fire, guitar and harmonicas in in hand, with friends singing along. Favorites included songs from James Taylor, Neil Young, the Eagles, Harry Chapin, and many others. So sit back and imagine the chill in the air, the smell of the smoke from the campfire, and the taste of burned marshmallows—and please feel free to sing along if you feel moved.
Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 609 Taylor Street, across from the Community Center, in Uptown. Attendees should plan on arriving early – doors will open at 6:30. Masks are encouraged for in-person attendees.
