Trinity United Methodist’s Candlelight Concerts

is delighted to present classical pianist, composer, and educator:

Lino Rivera

Admission to the concert is free (really!), with a suggested donation of $15 per person. You are most welcome to attend whether you choose to donate or not. Half of the donation proceeds from this concert will go to Lino’s chosen charity, the Recovery Cafe.

The performance will be streamed live at https://trinityumcpt.org/concerts/ where you will find a link for the Candlelight Concerts Online and ways to donate. This concert will also be simulcast on KPTZ FM 91.9.

Born in the Philippines, Lino Rivera has performed as a solo recitalist, concerto soloist, chamber musician and accompanist on three continents. He makes it his mission to explore and meet the artistic, creative, and technical challenges of piano transcriptions; to advocate and premiere contemporary works; and to discover and perform obscure solo piano repertoire throughout the ages.

Rivera holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the University of Santo Tomas (Manila), a master’s from the University of Hawaii, and a doctorate from the University of Maryland. He currently serves as Professor of Music in the Performing Arts Department at Saint Mary’s College of California, while maintaining active concert engagements domestically and internationally. Rivera has been invited back for the third time as a performing faculty member at the Music & More Summer Music Festival in Bosnia Herzegovina in August 2026.

The program for the Candlelight Concert will feature selections from Schubert, Bach, Beethoven and Bellini which illustrate the 3 types of piano transcription or piano arrangement: literal transcription, partition or reduction and metamorphosis.

Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 609 Taylor Street, across from the Community Center, in Uptown Port Townsend. Attendees should plan on arriving early – doors will open at 6:30. Masks are encouraged for in-person attendees.
